Annual Meeting & 2017 Board Election Results

Thank you to all the homeowners who took the time to fill out a proxy and/or attend our Annual Meeting. We were very please to meet our quorum for the Annual Meeting. We had 318 homeowners fill out a proxy or vote in person at the Annual Meeting. Of those 318, 70 proxies were filled out for 'quorum only'.

We are happy to announce that William Pongrass was re-elected to a second three year term and Michael Olsen is our newly elected board member. We greatly appreciate all four homeowners volunteering to run for the two open positions that were open this year. We want to take this opportunity to thank Doug White for the many years of service and dedication to the HOA Board.

MP HOA Annual Meeting, November 9th

Our Annual Meeting of members is Wednesday, November 9th at 7pm at the Cimarron Parkway Clubhouse. Please, if you are unable to attend the meeting in person, fill out the proxy that was recently mailed to you and drop it off at the HOA Office at any time before the meeting. You can drop it through the mail slot in the door if the office is closed. You can also vote online via Survey Monkey. We are legally required to get a quorum for the meeting so we can elect the Board members. If we don't get a quorum, we'll have to schedule another meeting and send out mailings again to everyone, costing the HOA hundreds of dollars. If possible, please talk to your neighbors and collect proxies from them if they won't be able to attend the meeting. Thanks for your help in support of our community!

2017 HOA Dues

We have had several inquiries as to the reason for the increase in HOA Dues. The Memorial Parkway Board Members are homeowners in the subdivision just like you. Their goal is to always have the best interest of the homeowner in mind. They do not want to see cost go up any more than you do, because it also affects their own household expenses.

Due to the age of the neighborhood, the HOA Dues are the lowest around and we hope to keep them that way. Your annual dues go towards many items that you may not realize. The largest expense annually is the Constables Contract. We have three constables that are contracted with Harris County to patrol the subdivision. We feel that the security for the subdivision is well worth the cost to the homeowners. We pay the electricity for the street lights on every street throughout the subdivision. We pay for electricity to the tennis courts, pools, clubhouse, marquee lights of Memorial Parkway. We pay for mowing, water and landscaping of Highland Knolls and Westgreen Esplanades, the Center Point Energy Easement and all the common areas. We have two pools in the subdivision that are maintained by the HOA. We have a pool management cost that include lifeguards, chemicals and cleaning. We have 6 tennis courts, a basketball court and a playground. We are required to keep insurance on all the facilities which is over $30,000 annually. We have a small office that manages the HOA affairs and business which is an annual cost. We have several community events throughout the year that are paid for with your annual dues. We pay to fog the subdivision for mosquitos. We recently paid to have all the curb numbers repainted at a cost of $17,000 to the HOA. Every year we spend a percentage of the dues on capital improvements. These will vary each year depending on what facility projects are scheduled to be maintained. For example, in the 2016-2017 Budget we plan to replaster Highland Knolls Pool at a cost of $26,000.00.

Direct TV Satellite Warning

Someone needs to warn the community about Direct TV.   We had them come out and install Direct TV on Saturday.   When they left, we discovered that they had installed the satellite dish in clear view which is probably a deed restriction violation.  It doesn't look good a the very least. So we called within 2 hours of installation and they said they'd come back and move it.   Then they said they'd only remove it if we got a deed restriction violation letter.  So we cancelled the service and now they say that we need to hire a satellite dish removal service to get rid of the thing.  So please warn people that once they get a satellite dish installed by Direct TV, they are responsible to get it off their house and dispose of it. We're working on it and are extremely unhappy with Direct TV. ~Concerned Neighbor
