Dear Memorial Parkway Neighbors,
We want to keep you informed about critical developments in how our HOA is being managed. Last year, our Office Manager resigned. Our current office manager has also submitted their notice, placing our community at a pivotal crossroads in how we move forward.
Residents deserve to be fully aware of how these decisions are being made and what they could mean for our community. For better or worse, either path—remaining self-managed or hiring a management company—will bring change. The goal is to make the most informed, community-driven decision possible.
To help you better understand the potential impacts, here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons of each approach:
Self-Managed HOA |
HOA Management Company |
More control and flexibility for the board. Cost-effective. Allows deep community involvement. |
Provides professional structure. Relieves the board of day-to-day tasks. Tends have higher costs. |
May lead to difficulty sourcing vendors due to job size and scope. As well as insurance and warranty fulfillment. |
Offers access to a network of insured vendors, solving our issue with getting competitive quotes. |
Slower enforcement and communication and visibility of managed controlables. There is a higher probability of missed deadlines, filings, and documentations. |
Handles enforcement, applications, and violations efficiently. Access to enhanced technology that streamlines and categorizes important measurables. |
The board retains legal responsibility. Must maintain compliance independently. |
No exceptions are typically granted. Menu-driven cost structure for incidentals leading to detailed costing. Evaluation is needed to identify what is necessary and meets the HOA needs. |
